J. R. Angelella (Joseph Ross Angelella) is the author of the novel Zombie, forthcoming from Soho Press, as well as a Southern Gothic supernatural YA series co-written with his wife, Kate Angelella, forthcoming from Sourcebooks/Teen Fire in 2013.

His short fiction has appeared in Boston Literary Magazine, Flash Magazine, Word Riot, Twelve Stories, The Literary Review, Hunger Mountain, Fifth Wednesday Journal, Houston Literary Review, Sou’wester, The Coachella Review, JMWW, Plots With Guns and The Collagist. His journalism and criticism have appeared  in the Ithaca Times, New Pages, The Chapbook Review, Fiction Writers Review and The Quivering Pen. He is also a contributing author to Who Done It?, a murder-mystery anthology benefiting the nonprofit organization 826NYC, co-edited by Jon Scieszka and Daniel Ehrenhaft, and published by Soho Teen.

He holds a BA in English from Ithaca College and an MFA in Creative Writing and Literature from the Bennington Writing Seminars at Bennington College. He teaches creative writing at the Gotham Writers’ Workshop in New York City.

He was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and now lives in Brooklyn with his wife, the writer Kate Angelella, and their two flauntingly obese cats, Pacey and Bailey.
